Children International is a global nonprofit operating across 10 countries to help children and young people break the cycle of poverty. By providing long-term support in education, healthcare, and skills development, the organization empowers youth to build brighter futures.
Content is central to that mission. From its central hub in Kansas City, Children International coordinates a network of global, on-the-ground agency journalists who act as the organization's eyes and ears. They capture the photos, videos, stories, and quotes that help donors and the wider public see the real-world impact of their support. To engage both audiences, the entire content pipeline depends on speed, efficiency, and quality.
Our mission is really all about connection… to connect people around the world in the fight to end poverty. Content is the fuel behind all of it. It helps donors see the impact of their support.Corie Rast

Challenges
Children International's agency journalists are the main contributors to its DAM. They operate like field reporters: going out on assignment, coordinating logistics, conducting interviews, and capturing everything from photos to video. Their workload is heavy, so easy uploading and organizing is essential to keep the content pipeline moving.
Over time, as its content library and network of contributors expanded, Children International's content needs evolved. The team needed faster upload and download speeds to keep pace with a growing volume of assets, along with more advanced search capabilities to help teams quickly find what they were looking for.
As Children International evaluated new digital asset management platforms, the priorities were a modern, intuitive experience combined with smarter AI-powered search and a solution built to handle a large, growing global library of content.
Migrating from Webdam to Bynder
Children International chose to switch from Webdam to Bynder's AI-powered DAM, starting with the migration of over 86,000 assets. From the initial planning spreadsheet to the final go-live, Bynder’s implementation team supported Children International as a trusted partner to make sure the transition was a success.
The migration also gave the team an opportunity to rethink how their content was organized. Rather than relying on a folder-based structure, Children International rebuilt its taxonomy around search, laying the metadata and tagging foundations that maximize Bynder's AI capabilities.
To build excitement and drive adoption from day one, the team gave the platform its own identity: CAMP, short for Content Asset Management Portal. Monthly content meetings now include a dedicated CAMP tips section, and a Governance Council has been established to guide the platform's ongoing evolution.
We started with a really simple spreadsheet and ended up with our own platform. It was a complex process, but the Bynder team walked us through every step of the way.Corie Rast

Solution
Right away, Bynder made life easier for global agency journalists, who could now upload raw photos and videos on the go with fast, reliable performance, even while working out in the field.
Sharing content has also become simpler and more professional. Collections let the team package and share high-value assets with internal colleagues and external partners via a single link.
Learning that Bynder is powered by AWS and seeing the Natural Language Search feature were big selling points for me. I could really picture our team working in Bynder.Corie Rast

Child protection is central to how Children International manages its content. As the system of record for approved assets, Bynder gives teams a single source of truth for what content has been cleared for public use.
Bynder's permission management settings let admins control who can access and download specific content, independent of approval status. Since keeping kids safe is at the heart of the organization's mission, this precise control over identities and locations is a critical priority, and Bynder helps ensure all field content is handled safely and responsibly.
Results
Children International is still in the early stages of its adoption journey, but the impact is already visible across the organization:
- Upload and download speeds have improved significantly, helping field journalists and the social team get content in and out of Bynder faster
- Natural Language Search has improved content discoverability, driving stronger content reuse and ROI, and reducing time spent on manual discovery
- Sharing important content with internal teams and external partners is easier and more professional
The results have been amazing. Just being able to have such a wide variety of images at your fingertips with a very intuitive search has been transformative for our team.Corie Rast
